Abstract:
Neutral hydrogen observations with the 100-m Effelsberg radio
telescope are presented for 268 spiral galaxies from the Revised Flat
Galaxy Catalog (VII/219). Fluxes, radial velocities and line widths
are given for 121 detected galaxies, as well as search parameters for
147 undetected objects. Most of the detected galaxies are late type
(Sbc -- Sdm) spirals with a mean M25/L_B ratio of 2.5 in solar
units. (M25 is the total mass within the 25mag/arcsec2 isophote)
and a mean hydrogen mass fraction MHI/M25=0.13. Correlations
between global parameters are discussed briefly. A comparison with a
sample of nearby galaxies (within 10Mpc) demonstrates the validity of
the same linear relation between the optical luminosity (LB) and the
linear diameter (A25) down to the smallest galaxies.
Description:
The HI line observations were performed using the Effelsberg 100-m
radio telescope during several sessions between October 2001 and April
2002.

Note (1): Individual notes:
-- RFGC 860, 1308, 2080, 2777, and 3370: for these objects we find
multiple objects in the beam (confusion); RFGC 1309 without known
radial velocity lies at 1.15' to S from RFGC 1308. The three galaxies
RFGC 1308, 1309, 1310 might form a physical triplet; there is mutual
contamination within the beam for each of the three targets by the
possible group members.
-- RFGC 3231: We assume that the observed HI profile is due to
Galactic emission.
Note (2): Errors of velocity measurements depend on the velocity
resolution, the signal-to-noise ratio and the shape of the line
profiles. The half power line width is given for all detected
galaxies. Line widths at lower levels are only given when the
signal-to-noise ratio allows the measurement.
