ADC_Keywords: Galaxies, optical ; Galaxies, photometry ; Photometry, surface ; Morphology Keywords: galaxies: general - galaxies: fundamental parameters - galaxies: statistics Abstract: In order to estimate the contribution of low surface brightness (LSB) galaxies to the local (z≤0.1) galaxy number density, we performed an optical search for LSB candidates in a 15.5°2 part of the region covered by the 65°2 blind Arecibo HI Strip Survey (AHISS) Description: The TBHD sample is based on B-band observations using with the focal reducer WWFPP at the 1.23m telescope at Calar Alto and R-band observations using CAFOS at Caha 2.2m. It contains 306 galaxies within 14.3deg2 in a region targeted at an area covered by the Arecibo HI Strip Survey. The galaxies were selected to have an apparent minimum diameter of 18-arcsec at the limiting surface brightness of approximately 25.2mag/arcsec2.
