Abstract:
In order to estimate the contribution of low surface brightness (LSB)
galaxies to the local (z≤0.1) galaxy number density, we performed
an optical search for LSB candidates in a 15.5°2 part of the
region covered by the 65°2 blind Arecibo HI Strip Survey (AHISS)
Description:
The TBHD sample is based on B-band observations using with the focal
reducer WWFPP at the 1.23m telescope at Calar Alto and R-band
observations using CAFOS at Caha 2.2m. It contains 306 galaxies within
14.3deg2 in a region targeted at an area covered by the Arecibo HI
Strip Survey. The galaxies were selected to have an apparent minimum
diameter of 18-arcsec at the limiting surface brightness of
approximately 25.2mag/arcsec2.
