Abstract:
We describe the mid- (MIR) and far- (FIR) infrared properties of a
large (∼1000) sample of the most isolated galaxies in the local
Universe. This sample is intended as a "nurture-free" zero point
against which more environmentally influenced samples can be compared.
We reprocess IRAS MIR/FIR survey data using the ADDSCAN/SCANPI utility
for 1030 out of 1050 galaxies from the Catalogue of Isolated Galaxies
(CIG, Cat. VII/82) as part of the AMIGA survey. We focus on
diagnostics (FIR luminosity LFIR , R=log(LFIR/LB) and IRAS colours)
thought to be sensitive to effects of environment or interaction.
Description:
The AMIGA project aims at Analysing the interstellar Medium of
Isolated Galaxies.
File "table2.dat" contains the CIG number, FIR flux densities at 12,
25, 60 and 100um for the CIG galaxies, together with estimation
methods and whether the value is an upper limit or not.
File "table3.dat" contains the CIG number, distance (in Mpc), and
log(LFIR) and log(LB) as a fraction of solar luminosity.

Note (1): Flux density is an upper limit when l_Flux="<",
else flux density has been measured.
Note (2): Flux estimator code as follows:
1 = "Templ" flux estimator
2 = "Peak" flux estimator
3 = "fnu(t)" flux estimator
4 = "fnu(z)" flux estimator
5 = upper limit of the flux estimated
6 = special cases for upper limit flux estimation
Note (3): Detected as extended source as follows:
y = If the galaxy has been detected as an extended source
n = If the galaxy has been detected as a point source
= otherwise

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note (1): Distance to the galaxy, as derived from equation (1):
Psi(L)=2.5ΔM*[{Sum.on.j}(Theta(L/Mj)*Phi(Mj))], where
L=log(LFIR), and Psi is the differential FIR luminosity function.
The bivariate (optical, FIR) luminosity function Θ(L/Mj) is
defined as Theta(L/Mj)=[P(L,Mj)]/ΔL, where ΔL=0.25 and
P(L,Mj) is the conditional probability for a source with absolute
magnitude M (Mj+0.5ΔM≥M≥Mj-0.5ΔM) to have the logarithm
of its FIR luminosity, log(LFIR), within the interval
[L-0.5ΔL,L+0.5ΔL].
Note (2): LFIR luminosity is an upper limit when l_logLFIR="<",
else LFIR luminosity has been measured.
Note (3): Logarithm of galaxy luminosity over solar luminosity.
Some nulls exist (-).
