Abstract:
Mechanisms involved in the star formation process and in particular
the duration of the different phases of the cloud contraction are not
yet fully understood. Photometric data alone suggest that objects
coexist in the young cluster NGC 6530 with ages from ∼1Myr up to
10Myrs.
We want to derive accurate stellar parameters and, in particular,
stellar ages to be able to constrain a possible age spread in the
star-forming region NGC6530.
Description:
We derived accurate stellar parameters in the young cluster NGC 6530
(∼5 Myrs) with the aim to constrain a possible age spread in the HR
diagram of this region.
We used low-resolution spectra taken with ESO-VLT/VIMOS and literature
spectra of standard stars to derive spectral type of a sample of 94
candidate cluster members. We assigned spectral types to 86 of 88
confirmed members and derive individual reddening. Table 1 lists the
photometric data BVIJHK of our VIMOS target, table 3 gives the results
on membership, spectral types and Hα properties while table 5
gives the fundamental stellar parameters, such as extinction, effective
temperatures, luminosities, ages and masses.
