ADC_Keywords: Radio sources Keywords: radio source surveys - radio source counts - radio interferometers Description: Observations of the field Lynx 3A, obtained at 21cm with 5σ peak flux 85µJy using the 3-km array of the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope for 16x12h periods during 1984, are reported. Details of the observations and the data reduction are given, and the results are presented in extensive tables and maps. A complete sample of 321 objects within the 0.5° attenuation radius is selected from the 349 objects detected above 85µJy, and the 1.412GHz source counts down to 100µJy are found to be in good agreement with VLA surveys of similar depth. The median angular size of sources with total flux density between 350µJy and 10mJy is shown to be less than 10arcsec. The Westerbork survey number (65W) followed by a sequence number in order of increasing right ascension. Multi-component or complex sources are designated by an asterisk behind its Westerbork name. Each component is listed directly below, labeled A, B, C... in order of right ascension. Any central component is always labeled "*". Note (2): All parameters have their 1 sigma errors listed. Errors in position and flux were calculated using the signal-to-noise dependent quadratic relations described in Windhorst et al. (1984, Cat. J/A+AS/58/1), using the empirically determined coefficients from Oort and Windhorst (1985A&A...145..405O 1985A&A...145..405O): (e_RA)2= (NR/Sp)^2 Cp2 + Cra2 (e_DE)2= (NR/Sp)^2 (Cp/sin(DE))2 + Cde2 (e_Ssky)2= Stot2 [(N/Sp)2+CS2+(Δρ*Δτ)2] with Cp = 0.5 HPBW, Cra= 0.04 HPBW, Cde= 0.03 HPBW, CS = 0.03 and Δρ = 0.006° Note (3): Resolution code: U: unresolved R: resolved E: multi component Note (4): For resolved sources, the angular size from the deconvolved major axis. For extended sources, the distance between the centers of the two outermost components. Note (5): R is defined as, R =(asou*bsou)/(aapt*bapt), where asou and bsou are the major and minor half widths of the source, and aapt and bapt of the antenna pattern. Note (6): Notes: * : The source is not part of the complete radio sample. V : The source is variable, either because it was marked as such in the LBDS (Cat. J/A+AS/58/1), or because the flux found differs more than 2.5σ from the flux given in the LBDS (Cat. J/A+AS/58/1). H : A low surface brightness halo is present, judged from a comparison with the 1.5 km map. T : The source has a tail. C : A contour of the source is given in figure 4.
