Abstract:
A catalog of southern anomalous-velocity HI clouds at δ<+2°
is presented. This catalog is based on data from the HI Parkes
All-Sky Survey (HIPASS) reprocessed with the MINMED5 procedure and
searched with a new high-velocity cloud-finding algorithm. The
improved sensitivity (5σ: ΔTB=0.04K), resolution
(15.5'), and velocity range (-500km/s<VLSR<+500km/s) of the HIPASS
data result in a substantial increase in the number of individual
clouds (1956, as well as 41 galaxies) compared with what was known
from earlier southern data. The method of cataloging the
anomalous-velocity objects is described, and a catalog of key cloud
parameters, including velocity, angular size, peak column density,
total flux, position angle, and degree of isolation, is presented.

Note (1): Consisting of a prefix followed by the Galactic longitude,
Galactic latitude, and Local Standard of Rest velocity.
HVC = filamentary features and their sub-structures which are organized
into large high-velocity cloud complexes;
CHVC = features satisfying the criteria of compact, isolated,
high-velocity clouds (as discussed in Section 2.4);
:HVC = clouds which could not be unambiguously classified as a CHVC;
GLXY = galaxies cataloged in either the LEDA or the NED databases or
visible in Digital Sky Survey (DSS) data.
Note (2): Where VGSR = 220cos(b)sin(l) + VLSR.
Note (3): Where VLGSR = VGSR - 62cos(l)cos(b) + 40sin(l)cos(b) - 35sin(b),
following Braun & Burton (1999A&A...341..437B 1999A&A...341..437B).
Note (4): From the spectrum which passes through the peak brightness
temperature pixel of the object. Those values below 26km/s (the
velocity resolution) should be thought of as having 26km/s as the
upper limit.
Note (5): Based on the total number pixels assigned to an object
times the area of a 4'x4' pixel.
Note (6): If the object has a clearly discernable optical counterpart
it is followed by ``(A)'', if it does not, and has a GSR velocity
exceeding 300km/s, it is followed with ``(B)''.
