After fitting and removing a small velocity gradient across the SMC (8.3km/s/° oriented at 23.4° east of north), we measure an rms velocity scatter of 27.5±0.5km/s. Description: We select candidate RGB stars photometrically from our Magellanic Clouds Photometric Survey (MCPS) catalog, which contains subarcsecond astrometry and UBVI photometry for over 6 million SMC stars (Zaritsky et al. 2002, Cat. J/AJ/123/855). Our 16 selected fields cover the central 3.9x1.8kpc2 of the SMC. We observed 14 of our 16 fields over four half-nights on the Magellan Baade Telescope from 2004 August 29 to September 1.
