Rotational velocities for B0-B3 stars in seven young clusters: further study of the relationship between rotation speed and density in star-forming regions. Wolff S.C., Strom S.E., Dror D., Venn K. <Astron. J., 133, 1092-1103 (2007)> =2007AJ....133.1092W 2007AJ....133.1092W
ADC_Keywords: Clusters, open ; Stars, B-type ; Rotational velocities Keywords: open clusters and associations: individual (NGC 6823, NGC 7380, IC 1805, NGC 2244, NGC 6611, Cygnus OB2, I Lacerta, Scorpius OB2, Orion I) - stars: rotation Abstract: We present the results of a study aimed at assessing the differences in the distribution of rotation speeds N(vsini) among young (1-15Myr) B stars spanning a range of masses 6M<M<12M and located in different environments: seven low-density (ρ<1M/pc3) ensembles that are destined to become unbound stellar associations, and eight high-density (ρ≫1M/pc3) ensembles that will survive as rich, bound stellar clusters for ages well in excess of 108yr. Description: The B stars for which we obtained new spectroscopic observations were members of NGC 6823, NGC 7380, IC 1805, NGC 2244, NGC 6611, and Cyg OB2. For NGC 6611 only, observations were obtained in 2005 May, with the Hydra multiobject fiber spectrograph on WIYN. For many of the same stars in NGC 6611 and for the stars in the other associations, we obtained WIYN Hydra observations that cover the wavelength range 4070-4580Å at a resolution of R∼5000(0.75Å).
