We use the catalog to search for magnetic white dwarfs in cataclysmic variable progenitor systems. Given that approximately 25% of cataclysmic variables contain a magnetic white dwarf, and that our large sample of close binary systems should contain many progenitors of cataclysmic variables, it is quite surprising that we find only two potential magnetic white dwarfs in this sample. Description: The combined properties of the majority of close binaries in this paper are discussed in detail in Raymond et al. (2003AJ....125.2621R 2003AJ....125.2621R) and Silvestri et al. (2006, Cat. J/AJ/131/1674). The Silvestri et al. (2006, Cat. J/AJ/131/1674) catalog was based on a preliminary list of spectroscopic plates released internally to the collaboration and as such does not include objects from ∼200 plates released with the final public Data Release Four (DR4; Adelman-McCarthy et al., 2006, Cat. II/267). The list of 1253 potential close binary systems given in Table 1 includes objects from all plates released with the public DR5, thereby superseding the Silvestri et al. (2006, Cat. J/AJ/131/1674) DR4 catalog.
