Abstract:
We present the results of a search for white-light flares on ∼23000
cool dwarfs in the Kepler Quarter 1 long cadence data. We have
identified 373 flaring stars, some of which flare multiple times
during the observation period. We calculate relative flare energies,
flare rates, and durations and compare these with the quiescent
photometric variability of our sample.
Description:
The Kepler Quarter 1 long cadence data consist of 33.5 days of
photometry sampled every 30 minutes, taken between 2009 May 13 and
2009 June 15. In this paper, we work from the raw simple aperture
photometry provided in the publicly released Quarter 1 FITS files,
under the APRAWFLUX keyword.

Note (1): ΔF = (Ff-Fq)/Fq, where Ff and Fq denote the
flaring and the quiescent flux, respectively. It is a differential
quantity, independent of distance and measured relative to the
quiescent star. The "flare duration equivalent width" is the photometric
equivalent width for the flare, defined as EWp=∫ΔF.dt
