Abstract:
We present a detailed (U-V) color-magnitude relation (CMR) analysis
for three local (z<0.06) clusters of galaxies. From square-degree
imaging of the Abell clusters A85, A496, and A754, we select 637
galaxies down to L∼0.1LV* with spectroscopic membership, which
minimizes uncertain field contamination corrections.
Description:
We observed clusters A85, A496, and A754 during two runs at the Kitt
Peak National Observatory (KPNO) 0.9m Telescope with the NOAO Mosaic
Wide-Field Imager. We used the engineering-grade Mosaic for the V data
in 1997 November and the science-grade Mosaic with thinned CCDs for
the U band in 2000 January.

Note (2): Rest-frame (U-V) colors measured within three circular apertures:
fixed size corresponding to 3.34h-1kpc at distance to parent cluster
and variable sizes corresponding to half-light and twice half-light
galaxy diameters. The photometry is calibrated to Johnson U and V
magnitudes on the Landolt (1992, Cat. II/183) system.
