ADC_Keywords: Active gal. nuclei ; X-ray sources Keywords: galaxies: active - surveys - X-rays: galaxies Abstract: The XBootes Survey is a 5ks Chandra survey of the Bootes Field of the NOAO Deep Wide-Field Survey (NDWFS). This survey is unique in that it is the largest (9.3°2) contiguous region imaged in X-ray with complementary deep optical and near-infrared (near-IR) observations. We present a catalog of the optical counterparts to the 3213 X-ray point sources detected in the XBootes survey. Using a Bayesian identification scheme, we successfully identified optical counterparts for 98% of the X-ray point sources. Description: A 9.3°2 region of sky chosen to match the area covered with NDWFS was observed by ACIS-I on the Chandra X-Ray Observatory over a 2 week time interval in 2003 March and April. The optical data is available at http://www.noao.edu/noao/noaodeep and http://archive.noao.edu/nsa/ and will be described by Jannuzi et al. (in prep.). The near-IR data will be described by Dey et al. (in prep.). The X-ray data in this table is a subset of the data from Kenter et al. 2005ApJS..161....9K 2005ApJS..161....9K. We request that any use of this dataset should reference both these papers (Kenter et al. 2005ApJS..161....9K 2005ApJS..161....9K and Brand et al. 2006ApJ...641..140B 2006ApJ...641..140B). Note (2): Shifted to NDWFS astrometric frame. Note (3): Flag on CXOXB, defined as follows: 1 = optical ID; -3 = no optical ID, but source obscured by nearby star / missing data; (flag applied manually) -2 = no optical ID, but X-ray position is close to optically bright galaxy (source is either obscured by or associated with the galaxy) -1 = no optical ID (optical image is truly blank) Note (4): Taken from either the R, Bw, or I-band catalogs in that order of preference. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file (# are comments) : bwfilter.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 4- 7 I4 0.1nm lambda Wavelength 8- 10 A3 --- --- [.00] 15- 20 F6.3 % Tran Filter transmission -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: * 27-Jul-2007: From electronic version of the journal * 01-Jul-2008: In table 2, the name CXOXB J143143.2+322560 was changed to CXOXB J143143.2+322600.
