Abstract:
High-resolution mid-infrared spectra are presented for 155 nuclear and
extranuclear regions from the Spitzer Infrared Nearby Galaxies Survey
(SINGS). The fluxes for nine atomic forbidden and three molecular
hydrogen mid-infrared emission lines are also provided, along with
upper limits in key lines for infrared-faint targets. The SINGS sample
shows a wide range in the ratio of [SIII]18.71um/[SIII]33.48um, but
the average ratio of the ensemble indicates a typical interstellar
electron density of 300-400cm-3 on ∼23x15" scales and 500-600cm-3
using ∼11x9" apertures, independent of whether the region probed is a
star-forming nuclear, a star-forming extranuclear, or an active
galactic nuclei (AGN) environment.
Description:
The SINGS sample (Kennicutt et al., 2003PASP..115..928K 2003PASP..115..928K) of 75 galaxies
and 88 extranuclear regions covers a broad swath of the extragalactic
environments found in the local universe. High-resolution spectroscopy
(R∼600) was obtained in the Short-High (10-19um) and Long-High
(19-37um) modules of Spitzer.

Global notes:
Note (G1): The nuclear targets are listed first followed by the
extranuclear targets. The nuclei for eight SINGS galaxies are not
listed in this table. No high resolution infrared spectral data were
taken for the optical centers of Holmberg I, Holmberg II, M81 Dwarf A,
M81 Dwarf B, IC 2574, DDO 154, NGC 3034 (M82), and NGC 6822.
Note (G2): Flags as follows:
a = Considered to harbor an AGN, based on optical spectroscopy
(Moustakas et al., 2010, Cat. J/ApJS/190/233).
b = The Short-High maps are 45x33" instead of the standard ∼23x15".
c = The infrared emission peaks outside of the field of view of the
nuclear spectral maps. The infrared center was thus observed as an
extranuclear target, and the data from those observations are listed
further down the table.
Note (G3): Calibration uncertainties are an additional ∼25%.
