Abstract:
We present measurements of the excess mass-to-light ratio (M/L)
measured around MaxBCG galaxy clusters observed in the Sloan Digital
Sky Survey. This red-sequence cluster sample includes objects from
small groups with M200∼5x1012/hM☉ to clusters with
M200∼1015/hM☉. Using cross-correlation weak lensing, we
measure the excess mass density profile above the universal mean
Δρ(r)=ρ(r)-{bar}ρ for clusters in bins of richness
and optical luminosity. We also measure the excess luminosity density
Δl(r)=l(r)-{bar}l measured in the z=0.25 i band. For both mass
and light, we de-project the profiles to produce three-dimensional
mass and light profiles over scales from 25h-1kpc to 22h-1Mpc.
From these profiles we calculate the cumulative excess mass
ΔM(r) and excess light ΔL(r) as a function of separation
from the BCG.
Description:
In this work we measure the mean M/L's for SDSS groups and clusters
drawn from the MaxBCG cluster sample (Koester et al.
2007ApJ...660..221K 2007ApJ...660..221K, 2007, Cat. J/ApJ/660/239). We compare the
ensemble mass estimates from the first two papers in this series
(Sheldon et al. 2009, Cat. J/ApJ/703/2217; Johnston et al.
2007arXiv0709.1159J 2007arXiv0709.1159J) with ensemble measurements of the total light. We
measure the mean mass using lensing, and the mean luminosity by
correlating the clusters with the surrounding galaxies.
