ADC_Keywords: Millimetric/submm sources ; Stars, masses ; Stars, distances ; Spectral types ; YSOs Keywords: brown dwarfs; protoplanetary disks; stars: formation; stars: pre-main sequence; stars: variables: T Tauri, Herbig Ae/Be; submillimeter: stars Abstract: We present SCUBA-2 850µm observations of seven very low mass stars (VLMS) and brown dwarfs (BDs). Three are in Taurus and four in the TW Hydrae Association (TWA), and all are classical T Tauri (cTT) analogs. We detect two of the three Taurus disks (one only marginally), but none of the TWA ones. For standard grains in cTT disks, our 3σ limits correspond to a dust mass of 1.2M in Taurus and a mere 0.2M in the TWA (3-10x deeper than previous work). We combine our data with other submillimeter/millimeter (sub-mm/mm) surveys of Taurus, ρ Oph, and the TWA to investigate the trends in disk mass and grain growth during the cTT phase. Description: We were awarded 10hr of shared-risk (first light) time on JCMT/SCUBA-2 to investigate primordial disks around very low mass stars (VLMS) and brown dwarfs (BDs) at 850um. Our combined sample (SCUBA-2 observations complemented by most of the Taurus, ρ Oph, and TWA Class II and/or cTT analogs (i.e., optically revealed accretors) observed in the sub-mm/mm (850um and/or 1.3mm) so far) consists of 134 objects -48 in ρ Oph, 80 in Taurus, and 6 in the TWA- spanning masses of ∼15MJ to 4M. Note (2): h = For TW Hya, this is the flux (and 1σ error) at 1.1mm (Weintraub et al. 1989ApJ...340L..69W 1989ApJ...340L..69W); we have cited it here for completeness, since close to 1.3mm. Note (4): Md,[850] if either a measured value of the 850um flux is available, or the upper limit on Md,[850] is smaller than the upper limit on Md,[1300]; otherwise Md,[1300].
