Abstract:
Using a large collection of near-infrared spectra (2.5-5.4 µm) of
Galactic HII regions and HII region-like objects, we perform a
systematic investigation of astronomical polycyclic aromatic
hydrocarbon (PAH) features. Thirty-six objects were observed using the
infrared camera on board the AKARI satellite as a part of a director's
time program. In addition to the well known 3.3-3.6 µm features,
most spectra show a relatively weak emission feature at 5.22 µm
with sufficient signal-to-noise ratios, which we identify as the PAH
5.25 µm band (previously reported).
Description:
This catalog contains 464 near-infrared spectra of Galactic HII
regions. The observations were performed for 36 different sources by
the use of "Ns" or "Nh" slit (0.8-arcmin length 5-arcsec width for Ns
or 1-arcmin length 3-arcsec width for Nh, see Onaka et al.
(2007PASJ...59S.411O 2007PASJ...59S.411O) for more detailed information on the
instrument). The target sources were basically selected from Galactic
ultra-compact and giant HII regions catalogued by Crowther & Conti
(2003MNRAS.343..143C 2003MNRAS.343..143C) and Conti & Crowther (2004MNRAS.355..899C 2004MNRAS.355..899C)
according to the visibility of the satellite. Generally, two pointing
observations were performed for each target, whereas some targets were
observed only once. Each pointing observation is identified by an
observation ID (Obs-ID). In the observations, grism and prism
spectroscopy were done separately for the same slit area in the fist
and the latter half of a single pointing observation. We extract
spectra taken with the grism and the prism mode respectively from the
same area with the length of 6 pixels (8.76 arcsec) and the width of 5
arcsec for the Ns slit or 3 arcsec for the Nh slit one by one along
the slit direction. As a result, we obtain several sets of grism and
prism spectra (2.5-5.0 micron, R∼100 for the grism and 1.7-5.4 micron,
R∼20-40 for the prism) from each pointing observation. Each
spectra-extracted region is identified by a position number inside a
slit (poN). See paper for details.
