ADC_Keywords: Galaxies, radio; Radio sources Keywords: Galaxy evolution ; Galaxy counts ; Star formation ; Radio galaxies Abstract: Brightness-weighted differential source counts S2n(S) spanning the eight decades of flux density between 0.25µJy and 25Jy at 1.4GHz were measured from (1) the confusion brightness distribution in the MeerKAT DEEP2 image below 10µJy, (2) counts of DEEP2 sources between 10µJy and 2.5mJy, and (3) counts of NVSS sources stronger than 2.5mJy. We present our DEEP2 catalog of 1.7x104 discrete sources complete above S=10µJy over Ω=1.04deg2. The brightness-weighted counts converge as S2n(S)∝S1/2 below S=10µJy, so >99% of the ΔTb∼0.06K sky brightness produced by active galactic nuclei and ∼96% of the ΔTb∼0.04K added by star-forming galaxies has been resolved into sources with S≥0.25µJy. The ΔTb∼0.4K excess brightness measured by ARCADE 2 cannot be produced by faint sources smaller than ∼50kpc if they cluster like galaxies. Description: The 1.266GHz DEEP2 image (Mauch+ 2020ApJ...888...61M 2020ApJ...888...61M) covers the Θ1/2=69.2' diameter half-power circle of the South African Radio Astronomy Observatory's (SARAO) MeerKAT array primary beam centered on RAJ2000=04:13:26.4s, DEJ2000=-80:00:00. Its point-source response is a Θ1/2=7.6" full width at half maximum (FWHM) Gaussian, and the rms noise is σn=0.56±0.01µJy/beam at the pointing center. The wideband DEEP2 image is the average of 14 narrow subband images (with central frequency from 908.010 to 1656.2MHz) weighted to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio (S/N) of sources with spectral index α=-0.7. In this work, we presented source counts in the eight decades of flux density from S=0.25uJy to S=25Jy using the MeerKAT DEEP2 field and archival NVSS data.
