Abstract:
In succession to the first ASCA Medium Sensitivity Survey catalog
(AMSS-I), we present the second X-ray source catalog (AMSS-II),
constructed from the Gas Imaging Spectrometer (GIS) data covering
Galactic latitudes |b|>10° observed between 1997 January and 2000
May. The AMSS-II catalog uses 306 fields and contains a total of 1190
sources detected with significance of >5σ in either the 0.7-7,
2-10, or 0.7-2keV band. The AMSS-I and AMSS-II catalogs list a total
of 2533 sources from an area of 278°2 and provides a unique
database of X-ray sources in the flux range of
10-13-10-11ergs/cm2/s (0.7-10keV). We summarize statistical
properties of a complete X-ray sample consisting of 1969 serendipitous
selected from AMSS-I and AMSS-II.
Description:
We apply the same analysis technique, data screening, and field
selection as done for AMSS-I to the GIS data of |b|>10° observed
between 1997 January 1 and 2000 May 1.

Note (1): Including both the statistical and systematic errors. See text
(section 3.3 of Paper I, J/ApJS/133/1) for details.
Note (2): Vignetting-corrected count rate at the reference position in the XRT
coordinate (8.5' offset) integrated within a radius of 5.9'.
Not corrected for Galactic absorption.
Note (3): Corrected for Galactic absorption, estimated from
Dickey & Lockman (1990ARA&A..28..215D 1990ARA&A..28..215D)
Note (4): Corrected for Galactic absorption. Converted from the observed count
rate in the same band, by assuming a power law with Galactic
absorption, with the best-fit photon index derived from the observed
hardness ratio Ratio (see section 2.4 of Paper I, J/ApJS/133/1).
Note (5): HR=(H-S)/(H+S), where H and S represent the count rate corrected
for Galactic absorption in the 2-10keV and 0.7-2keV bands,
respectively.
