Abstract:
We present an analysis of the FUSE (Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic
Explorer) and HST (Hubble Space Telescope) STIS E140M spectra of HE
0226-4110 (z=0.495). We detect 56 Lyman absorbers and five OVI
absorbers.
Description:
The HST STIS observations of HE 0226-4110 (GO program 9184, PI: Tripp)
were obtained with the E140M intermediate-resolution echelle grating
between 2002 December 26 and 2003 January 1, with a total integration
time of 43.5ks. The FUSE observations of HE 0226-4110 were obtained
between 2000 and 2001 from the science team O VI project, and between
2002 and 2003 as part of the FUSE GO program D027 (PI: Savage).

assuming the absorption lines lie on the linear part of the
curve of the growth
AOD = apparent optical depth (see Savage & Sembach 1991ApJ...379..245S 1991ApJ...379..245S)

Note (2): Species that cannot be observed because of blending are NULL unless
"n" flag is set. Then the species is not observable at this redshift.

Global Notes:
Note (G1): Note flags are defined as follows:
! = Possible misidentification, see Section 3.3 for more details;
a = The total column densities are presented, but the structure is more
complex (see Savage et al. 2005ApJ...626..776S 2005ApJ...626..776S);
b = These three system correspond to the 3 absorption lines observed in the
system denoted z≃0.27155 in Table 3;
c = The limit is based on the Lyβ line (no detection), the
corresponding Lyα line is redward of the available STIS
wavelength range.
n = See notes.dat for additional information on the marked systems.
