We identified 182 candidate dense molecular clumps using six different selection criteria and mapped each source simultaneously in 16 different lines near 90GHz. We present a summary of the data and describe how the results of the pilot survey shaped the design of the larger MALT90 survey. We motivate our selection of target sources for the main survey based on the pilot detection rates and demonstrate the value of mapping in multiple lines simultaneously at high spectral resolution. Description: We used six different input catalogs for selecting sources; three were lists that we produced for our pilot survey and three were based on pre-existing catalogs (Walsh et al. (2008PASA...25..105W 2008PASA...25..105W), Beltran et al. (2006, Cat. J/A+A/447/221) and Schuller et al. (2009A&A...504..415S 2009A&A...504..415S)). From these lists we chose 20-40 sources near integer Galactic longitudes covering the range of longitudes accessible from Mopra. We carried out observations for the MALT90 pilot survey in the austral winter of 2009 from June 15 to 24, the OTF mapping mode of Mopra. Not all integrated intensity measurements at 5σ results in this broader velocity range. Note (2): b = N2H+ is outside the spectral coverage for sources with VLSR←100km/s. Note (3): Offsets are (x,y) offsets in units of pixels, where each pixel is 9". Offsets are relative to the targeted center of the map, which is determined differently for the different input surveys. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: table5.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 15 A15 --- [FJB2011] Source name (GLLL.lll+BB.bbb) 17 I1 --- N2H+ [0/1] Robust N2H+ detection code (1) 19 I1 --- 13CS [0/1] Robust 13CS detection code (1) 21 I1 --- HNC [0/1] Robust HNC detection code (1) 23 I1 --- HCO+ [0/1] Robust HCO+ detection code (1) 25 I1 --- HCN [0/1] Robust HCN detection code (1) 27 I1 --- C2H [0/1] Robust C2H detection code (1) 29 I1 --- SiO [0/1] Robust SiO detection code (1) 31 I1 --- H13CO+ [0/1] Robust H13CO+ detection code (1) 33 I1 --- H13CN [0/1] Robust H13CN detection code (1) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note (1): Robust detections correspond to 5σ integrated intensity detections excluding the 3 pixels (27") on the edge of each map. One corresponds to a robust detection, zero indicates no robust detection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: * From electronic version of the journal * duplicated source G326.989-00.032 in tables 3/4/5 removed
