The B, V, and I passband CCD images (typical seeing ∼0.8") were obtained with the Subaru Telescope equipped with the Suprime-Cam mosaic camera. The wide-field (20'x24') photometry catalog of 38856 objects (V∼16-26mag) is presented. This survey is also intended to serve as "a finding chart" for future imaging and spectroscopic observation programs of Leo A. Description: We observed Leo A on two nights in 2001 November. Images of Leo A were acquired through the B, V, and IC (tagged as "I" throughout) Johnson-Cousins system passbands in clear sky and good seeing conditions (FWHM of stellar images, FWHM∼0.8"). The analyzed field was centered at RA=9:59:26.0, DEC=+30:46:50.0 (J2000), i.e., slightly above the central part of Leo A, to keep the main body of galaxy around the middle of a single CCD; see Figure 1 for the stacked mosaic color image of the survey field. (J2000) coordinates in the USNO-B1.0 catalog (I/284) system. The astrometric World Coordinate System solution of the reference V passband mosaic was derived by cross-correlating a list of reference objects with the USNO-B1.0 catalog of standard astrometric stars using IRAF's ccmap (see section 2.2 for further explanations). Note (2): Photometric errors are: σB-V = (σ2B2V)1/2 σV-I = (σ2V2I)1/2 Note (3): Sharpness and χ2-DAOPHOT parameters of PSF model fitting in V passband; not available for bright stars (V≲20mag) measured by aperture photometry in "short" exposure frames. For good point-source fits, "chi2" is close to 1 and "sharp" close to 0. Note (4): Classification based on PSF model fitting and visual inspection of images. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: fits.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 9 F9.5 deg RAdeg [149.85681] Right Ascension of center (J2000) 10- 18 F9.5 deg DEdeg [+30.81069] Declination of center (J2000) 20- 24 F5.3 arcsec/pix scale [0.202] Scale of the image 26- 29 I4 --- Nx [5940] Number of pixels along X-axis 30 A1 --- --- [x] 31- 34 I4 --- Ny [7140] Number of pixels along Y-axis 36- 40 I5 Kibyte size [82842] Size of FITS file 42- 53 A12 --- FileName Name of FITS file, in subdirectory fits 55-115 A61 --- Text Title of the FITS file -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: From electronic version of the journal
