Abstract:
We derive cluster parameters and mass functions from new UBVRI CCD
photometric observations of ∼3500 stars reaching down to V∼20mag for
the distant southern open star clusters NGC 3105, NGC 3603,
Melotte 105, Hogg 15, NGC 4815, Pismis 20 and NGC 6253. For NGC 3105
and Hogg 15, CCD data are presented for the first time. The
observations were carried out in 1992 between February 28 and March 8,
June 5 and 9, and July 9 and 12 in the Cousins U, B, V, R and I
photometric bands using CCD detector at the 1.0-m Elizabeth Telescope
at the South African Astronomical Observatory (SAAO), Sutherland.

51-52: Trumpler concentration class (I II)
I: Detached cluster with strong central concentration
II: Detached cluster with little central concentration
53: Trumpler Range class (1/3)
1: Most cluster stars are nearly of the same apparent brightness
2: A medium range in the brightnesses of stars
3: Bright and faint stars are both present. Generally a few
very bright stars and some moderately bright stars
embedded in a body of fainter stars can be seen
54: Trumpler Richness class (mpr)
p: a poor cluster, n < 50 stars
m: a moderately rich cluster, 50 < n < 100 stars
r: a rich cluster, n > 100 stars

Note (1): Numbers used:
For NGC 3105 cluster region (table4), stars observed earlier have the
numbering system of Moffat & FitzGerald (1974A&AS...16...25M 1974A&AS...16...25M, NGC 3105
NNN) taken from the cluster data base, while the numbering of stars
observed for the first time by us starts with 201 in column Seq.
For NGC 3603 cluster region (table5), stars observed earlier have the
numbering system of Sher (1965MNRAS.129..237S 1965MNRAS.129..237S, NGC 3603 NN) taken from
the cluster data base, while the numbering of stars observed for the
first time by us starts with 301 in column Seq.
For Melotte 105 cluster region (table6), stars observed earlier have
the numbering system of Sher (1965MNRAS.129..237S 1965MNRAS.129..237S, Cl Melotte 105 NN)
taken from the cluster data base, while the numbering of stars
observed for the first time by us starts with 501 in column Seq.
For NGC 4815 cluster region (table8), stars observed earlier is taken
from the cluster data base, while the numbering of stars observed for
the first time by us starts with 9001 in column Seq.
For NGC 6253 cluster region (table10), stars observed earlier have the
numbering system of Bragaglia et al. (1997MNRAS.284..477B 1997MNRAS.284..477B, Cl* NGC
6253 BTT N) taken from the cluster data base, while the numbering of
stars observed for the first time by us starts with 6001 in column
Seq.
In the field regions, stars observed by us are numbered in increasing
order of X value.
