The presence of a far-UV (FUV) drop-out in their spectral energy distributions (SEDs) proved to be a very complete (83.3 per cent) but not very efficient (21.4 per cent) tool for identifying Lyman break galaxies (LBGs) at z∼1. In this paper, we explore the physical properties of these galaxies and how they contribute to the total star formation rate (SFR). File Summary: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FileName Lrecl Records Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ReadMe 80 . This file table1.dat 100 46321 *Ultraviolet-selected sample down to within COMBO 17 (C17) field of view with magnitudes estimated from daophot table3.dat 66 466 The Lyman break galaxies (LBG) sample 0.9≤z≤1.3, as defined in the text, is listed here -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Note on table1.dat: We stress that the magnitudes of resolved objects must be used with care because daophot is designed for point sources. However, for galaxies beyond z∼0.5, daophot photometry is valid (see text for a more detailed discussion). 46321 rows for 45366 idUV ([BLT2007]) are listed out of which 38057 correspond to GALEX objects without COMBO 17 counterparts, 6404 GALEX objects have a single C17 counterpart and a few ones with up to four counterparts (859x2, 42x2 and 4x4). Several rows with the same idUV are listed whenever several C17 counterparts are found. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See also: II/253 : CDF-South: multi-colour data with COMBO-17 (Wolf+, 2004) J/AJ/130/825 : GALEX ultraviolet variability catalog (Welsh+, 2005) Byte-by-byte Description of file: table1.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 I1 --- o_C17 [0/4]? By definition, all objects are observed in NUV and should have an L1150 value. Objects with an Ldust value are RLBGs.
