Abstract:
We present optical spectroscopic identifications of X-ray sources in
∼3deg2 of the XMM-Large Scale Structure survey (XMM-LSS), also
covered by the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Legacy Survey
(CFHTLS), obtained with the AAOmega instrument at the Anglo-Australian
Telescope. In a flux-limited sample of 829 point-like sources in the
optical band with g'≤22mag and the 0.5-2keV flux
(f0.5-2keV)>10-15erg/cm2/s, we observed 693 objects and
obtained reliable spectroscopic identification for 487 sources,
approximately 59 per cent of the overall sample.
Description:
The spectroscopic observations were performed with the AAOmega system
at the 3.9-m Anglo-Australian Telescope (AAT), during the nights of
2006 September 25-27 and 2007 September 11-13.

Note (1): Broad-band spectral index,
alphaox=[log(LX/Lopt)]/[log(nuX/nuopt)]
Note (2): Classes are:
ALG = Absorption-line galaxy (at z<0.76)
ELG = Emission-Line galaxy (at z<0.76)
QSO = Quasar or broad-line AGN
STA = Galactic stellar source
Note (3): Quality of the redshift is:
1 = secure (two or more lines identified in the spectrum)
2 = only 1 broad/narrow emission/absorption line (ambiguous redshift)
3 = spectrum of poor quality
