The mean period-change rates (β≈0.01d/Myr) of the subsamples of variables exhibiting the most regular behaviour are in good agreement with theoretical expectations based on horizontal branch stellar evolution models. However, a large fraction of variables show period changes that contradict the evolutionary expectations. Description: Photographic observations of M3 with the telescopes of the Konkoly Observatory were obtained after 1962, which data have not been published previously. The exposures taken without a filter with the 60-cm telescope on two nights in 1964 and 1968, and with the 1-m RCC telescope between 1976 and 1980, and 1988 and 1989 using 103aO plates are processed in this work. because of their extremely complex period variations. Note (2): The pulsation periods given are adopted to construct the O-C plots. The period is valid for the latest-epoch observations for stars denoted by "*". Note (3): The mean magnitude corresponds to the constant term of an appropriate-order Fourier-series fit of the CCD V data. Note (4): Full amplitude of the mean light curves of Blazhko stars is given. No or defective CCD photometry is available for V113, V115, V123 and V135. AV is estimated from Apg (AV∼AB/1.3). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: table8a.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 A1 --- --- [V] 2- 4 I03 --- Star Star number, <Cl* NGC 5272 Saw VNNN> in Simbad 6- 7 A2 --- dPt [npsi ] Period-change type (G1) 9- 10 A2 --- Oo [I II] Oosterhoff classification 12- 20 F9.7 d Per Period 22- 27 F6.3 mag Vmag Mean V magnitude 29- 34 F6.3 mag Vmagi Intensity averaged mean V magnitude 36- 40 F5.3 mag A1 Fist order Fourier coefficient 42- 46 F5.3 mag A2 Second order Fourier coefficient 48- 52 F5.3 mag A3 Third order Fourier coefficient 54- 58 F5.3 mag A4 Fourth order Fourier coefficient 60- 64 F5.3 mag A5 Fitth order Fourier coefficient 66- 70 F5.3 rad phi21 φ21 Fourier coefficient 72- 76 F5.3 rad phi31 φ31 Fourier coefficient 78- 82 F5.3 rad phi41 φ41 Fourier coefficient 84- 88 F5.3 rad phi51 φ51 Fourier coefficient 90- 93 F4.2 mag Vamp Amplitude in V band 95-108 A14 --- Sets Datasets used -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: table8b.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1 A1 --- --- [V] 2- 4 I03 --- Star Star number, <Cl* NGC 5272 Saw VNNN> in Simbad 6- 7 A2 --- dPt Period-change type O-C 9- 10 A2 --- Oo [I II] Oosterhoff classification 12- 20 F9.7 d Per Period 22- 27 F6.3 mag Vmag Mean V magnitude 29- 34 F6.3 mag Vmagi Intensity averaged mean V magnitude 36- 40 F5.3 mag A1 Fist order Fourier coefficient 42- 46 F5.3 mag A2 Second order Fourier coefficient 48- 52 F5.3 mag A3 Third order Fourier coefficient 54- 58 F5.3 mag A4 Fourth order Fourier coefficient 60- 64 F5.3 mag A5 Fitth order Fourier coefficient 66- 70 F5.3 rad phi21 φ21 Fourier coefficient 72- 76 F5.3 rad phi31 φ31 Fourier coefficient 78- 82 F5.3 rad phi41 φ41 Fourier coefficient 84- 88 F5.3 rad phi51 φ51 Fourier coefficient 90- 93 F4.2 mag AV Full amplitude in V band 95- 98 F4.2 mag b_AV Smallest observed V amplitude 100-103 F4.2 mag B_AV Largest observed V amplitude 105-109 F5.3 d dPhi Observed range of the phase oscillation of the rising branch 111-127 A17 --- Sets Datasets used -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Global notes: Note (G1): Period-change type as described in Section 4.1: p = regular and quasi-regular period-increasing variables s = stable-period variables n = period-decreasing variables i = variables showing irregular period changes ii = variables showing extremely irregular period changes -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: From electronic version of the journal
