The catalogue contains 246 members identified from 5042deg2 within 220°≤l≤360° and 0°<l≤30°, for |b|≤15°. Sixteen candidates are spectroscopically confirmed in the near-infrared as UCDs with spectral types from M7.5V to L9, the latest being the unusual blue L dwarf 2MASSJ11263991-5003550. Our catalogue selection method is presented enabling UCDs from ∼M8V to the L-T transition to be selected down to a 2MASS limiting magnitude of Ks≃14.5mag (for S/N≥10). Note (8): I-band magnitudes are from the SuperCOSMOS Science Archive (SSA: IN transformed to Ic), or from DENIS (Gunn-i), which are indicated with a '+' in n_Ic-J Note (9): Photometric spectral types obtained from the MJ/Ic-J, and MJ/SpT relations of Dahn et al. (2002AJ....124.1170D 2002AJ....124.1170D) valid for UCD spectral types of M7V to ∼L9. The spectral types and uncertainties have been rounded to the nearest 0.5 of a sub-type. An uncertainty of I=0.3mag was assumed for all the distance and spectral type propagated errors for candidates with IN magnitudes, else for DENIS I-band data the individual object uncertainties were used. Note that candidates with Ic-J values that fall outside the valid colour range of the SpT/Ic-J relation are denoted with spectral types of '<M7V' or '>L9' accordingly. Note (10): Photometric distance estimates are obtained from the distance modulus where the apparent J-band magnitude mj is from 2MASS, and MJ is from the MJ/Ic-J relation (Dahn et al., 2002AJ....124.1170D 2002AJ....124.1170D). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Byte-by-byte Description of file: refs.dat -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bytes Format Units Label Explanations -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1- 2 I2 --- Ref Reference code 4- 22 A19 --- BibCode BibCode 24- 41 A18 --- Aut author's name 45- 64 A20 --- Com Comments -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: From electronic version of the journal
