However, without significant overlap between the observational footprints of deep and shallow galaxy surveys, the extent to which structural measurements for large galaxy samples are robust to image quality (e.g. depth and spatial resolution) cannot be established. Deep images from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Stripe 82 co-adds provide a unique solution to this problem - offering 1.6-1.8mag improvement in depth with respect to SDSS Legacy images. Having similar spatial resolution to Legacy, the co-adds make it possible to examine the sensitivity of parametric morphologies to depth alone. Using the gim2d surface-brightness decomposition software, we provide public morphology catalogues for 16908 galaxies in the Stripe 82 ugriz co-adds. Our methods and selection are completely consistent with the Simard et al. (2011ApJS..196...11S 2011ApJS..196...11S, Cat. J/ApJS/196/11) and Mendel et al. (2014ApJS..210....3M 2014ApJS..210....3M, Cat. J/ApJS/210/3) photometric decompositions. We rigorously compare measurements in the deep and shallow images. We find no systematics in total magnitudes and sizes except for faint galaxies in the u band and the brightest galaxies in each band. However, characterization of bulge-to-total fractions is significantly improved in the deep images. Furthermore, statistics used to determine whether single-Sersic or two-component (e.g. bulge+disc) models are required become more bimodal in the deep images. Lastly, we show that asymmetries are enhanced in the deep images and that the enhancement is positively correlated with the asymmetries measured in Legacy images. Description: SDSS Legacy imaging was performed with the dedicated 2.5-m wide-field telescope at Apache Point Observatory (APO) in New Mexico (Abazajian et al. 2009ApJS..182..543A 2009ApJS..182..543A, Cat. II/294). A total of around 45000deg2 of science quality images across five broad bands (ugriz) were produced during operation and calibrated to the AB magnitude system (Oke & Gunn 1983ApJ...266..713O 1983ApJ...266..713O). DR7 imaging is complimented by a 640-fibre-fed pair of multi-object double spectrographs with coverage from 3800 to 9200Å at a resolution of λ/Δλ∼2000. The SDSS Stripe 82 (Annis et al. 2014ApJ...794..120A 2014ApJ...794..120A, Cat. J/ApJ/794/120) resides at 1.25°<δ<+1.25°, -50°<α<+60° along the celestial equator in the Southern Galactic Cap. Repeated imaging runs of Stripe 82 were carried out to enable stacking of images and reach fainter magnitudes. We select galaxies from the SDSS DR7 spectroscopic galaxy catalogue that are previously analysed by Simard et al. (2011ApJS..196...11S 2011ApJS..196...11S, Cat. J/ApJS/196/11) (S11) and which reside in Stripe 82. This provides a sample of 16908 galaxies for which decompositions in the deeper images can be directly compared with the more shallow reference decompositions from S11. We avoid misclassified non-galaxy sources in our galaxy sample by selecting targets determined to be galaxies from SDSS fibre spectroscopy. Consequently, we have spectroscopic redshifts for all galaxies in our sample. Using images constructed from multiple exposures of 275deg2 in the SDSS Stripe 82, which permit an additional 1.6-1.8mag of depth with respect to single-exposure SDSS Legacy images, we have performed free-nb and nb=4bulge+exp.disc (fn and n4) as well as single-component Sersic ps decompositions on 16908 galaxies - obtaining parametric morphologies in the u, g, r, i, z bands. Twelve tables are released in total - one for each unique combination of model and Xr-band pairing. (1994ApJ...432...75A 1994ApJ...432...75A, 1996ApJS..107....1A 1996ApJS..107....1A, Cat. J/ApJS/107/1) Note (G2): The Az index is calculated over the pixels belonging to the object or the background. Each pixel is compared to its symmetrical counterpart about the center of the object. If the flux in that pixel is nσbkg higher than the flux in its symmetrical counterpart, then the pixel is taken to be part of an asymmetrical component. Az is the sum of the fluxes of all such pixels normalized by the total object flux. Note (G3): The Dz index takes advantage of the isophotal shape of the object as measured by SExtractor. Dz is the sum of the fluxes of the object pixels (as given by the segmentation image) with symmetrical counterparts about the object center which do not belong to the object. This sum is normalized by the total object flux. Dz is computed outside of one half-light radius, and it is sensitive to asymmetries such as tidal arms. Note (G4): RT and RA indices are based on the indices used in local studies of spiral arm patterns by Elmegreen, Elmegreen & Montenegro (1992ApJS...79...37E 1992ApJS...79...37E). RT and RA each quantify the residual light that is not characterized by the symmetric, analytic models used in the decomposition. For both indices, the residual model-subtracted image is either added to (RT) or subtracted (RA) by the same image rotated by 180° about the galactic centre. Note (G5): Absolute magnitudes incorporate k-corrections computed using kcorrect version 4.2 (Blanton & Roweis 2007AJ....133..734B 2007AJ....133..734B) Note (G6): Probability that the fn decomposition (two-component free-nb bulge and exponential disc) is not required to properly characterize the surface brightness distribution of a galaxy relative to the ps model (single-component Sersic profile model) Note (G7): Probability that the fn decomposition (two-component free-nb bulge and exponential disc) is not required to properly characterize the surface brightness distribution of a galaxy relative to the n4 model (two-component nb=4 bulge and exponential disc model) Note (G8): Probability that the n4 decomposition (two-component nb=4 bulge and exponential disc model) is not required to properly characterize the surface brightness distribution of a galaxy relative to the ps model (single-component Sersic profile model) Note (G9): The single-component ps model tables contain neither PpS nor Pn4 statistics and columns that pertained to the discs in the two-component tables are either NULL or are filled with non-sensical values in the ps tables: disc position angle, scale length, inclination, and their associated uncertainties. Bulge-to-total fractions are also meaningless in the ps tables. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: From electronic version of the journal
