This proposal is devoted to the detection of solid oxygen, by its
absorption band at 6.45 micron, in interstellar grains around a
protostellar object carefully selected for this purpose. A positive
detection would be a first and would bring another important key to
grain surface chemistry. It will help to locate the missing oxygen
column density which is a current problem of astrochemistry.
