===================================================================== ==> Time for this proposal is to be transferred from TDEGRAAU.MARS_A ===================================================================== Time is requested in this proposal for a comprehensive set of spectroscopic observations of Mars. The overall objective is to study the present state of the martian atmosphere in order to elucidate its history and evolution. The specific measurements are: ----- - 1. A survey of the far-infrared spectrum at high spectral resolution, for the detection and identification of features due to known constituents and to search for features due to previously undetected constituents; - 2. Dedicated observations of specific H2O and CO lines to measure the disk-averaged abundances of these constituents; - 3. Dedicated observations of specific HDO and CO2 lines to measure the isotopic ratios D/H, 13C/12C, 18O/16O and 17O/16O; and - 4. Dedicated observations of selected CO2 lines to measure the thermal profile and to study non-LTE effects. ----- The proposers comprise the joint ISO Solar System Team (drawn from the Mission Scientist, LWS and SWS Teams). The observations proposed herein will both extend and augment the Mars observations already approved for the ISO Central Programme.
