Received 27 May 1997 / Accepted 1 December 1997 Abstract Though there have been some galactic microlensing events which show a clear signature of a binary lens, no event has yet been claimed as due to lensing of a binary source. Here I argue that this may be due to the fact that most of the binary source events show light curves which can be fitted with the simpler model of a blended single source. Key words: gravitational
