This paper is part of a project on fluorescence processes in stellar environments, which is supported by The Swedish National Space Board, The Swedish Natural Science Research Council and the Crafoord Foundation. The IUE spectrum of RR Tel was measured for one of us (SJ) some years ago by a summer student of Andy Michalitsianos at Goddard SFC. Andy's sudden and early death never allowed him to see this project finished, and this paper is dedicated to the memory of a real friend and great colleague.
