The Command dtype

The command dtype is used in two different situations. When information on the kind of observational data a datatype refers to, the syntax is:

dtype data-type

Conversely, if one wishes to know the datatype dsignation corresponding to some data, the syntax is:

dtype data-designation.

This will list all the lines in which the data is mentionned.

Examples:

dtype ubv
display information on the data represented by the datatype ubv
dtype UBV
display the list of datatypes that correspond to the various kinds of UBV data
dtype CCD
display the datatypes corresponding to CCD data.
The last command will produce the following output:

 Type        Data

 ccd         CCD measurements in the UBV system 
 ccdric      CCD measurements in Cousins's RI system 
 ccdy        CCD measurements in the uvby system
