III/152 Observed Periods of Ap Stars (Catalano+ 1984)
Catalog of Observed Periods of Ap Stars
Catalano F.A., Renson P.
<Astron. Astrophys. Suppl. Ser., 55, 371 (1984)>
=1984A&AS...55..371C 1984A&AS...55..371C
ADC_Keywords: Stars, Ap ; Stars, variable
Description:
A table of all the periods proposed up to 1983 for Ap stars is given
with references. The main identifiers (HD, HR, ... numbers), the
variable-star name, and the spectral type are listed for each star in
the table. The nature of the periodic variability discovered
(luminosity, equivalent widths of the lines, magnetic field, ...) is
presented in a codified way. Notes are provided, mainly about
duplicities.

1- 3 I3 --- ID [1/248] Running number in catalog
5- 10 I6 --- HD [1/359083]?+ HD III/135 identification
11 A1 --- m_HD Component suffix to HD
12 A1 --- Note [*] Indicates note for star (see notes.dat)
14- 17 I4 --- HR [1/9110]? Bright Star V/50 identification
19- 29 A11 --- Name Other name: Bayer/Flamsteed/GC/DM
31- 39 A9 --- VarName Variable star designation
43- 44 A2 --- SpType Spectral type
46- 52 A7 --- elem *Principal elements
53 A1 --- u_elem [ ?] Uncertainty flag on elem
55- 63 F9.4 d Per ? Period in days (unless otherwise noted)
64- 65 A2 --- u_Per *[ :?] Uncertainty flag on per
67- 71 A5 d per2 Alternative possibility for period
73- 76 A4 --- n_Per *[ lmsv] Note on per
78- 79 I2 --- Nper Number of proposed periods (records in file

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note on elem:
Principal elements with abnormally intense lines. The abbreviation
"He fbl." signifies that the star is "of weak helium", but "He"
alone signifies abnormally intense helium lines.
Note on u_Per:
: in byte 64 = Uncertainty is greater than omitted digits.
? in byte 65 = period value is doubtful because of too few observations
or other possible values
Note on n_Per:
letter in byte indicates period applies to:
------ ---- ------------------------------------------------------------
l 73 variations of luminosity and/or color
m 74 variations of "effective" magnetic field analogous
to Babcock (1958ApJ...128..228B 1958ApJ...128..228B)
s 75 variations in intensity of certain spectral lines
v 76 variations in wavelength of certain lines, often
interpreted as variations of radial velocities

Note on Per3:
Values taken from a single article appear on a single record.
Values separated by a slash "/" are equally probable.
Less probable values are parenthesized and preceded by a slash "(/)".
Values in parentheses not preceded by a slash "()" are different
possible values included in the uncertainties, which are given
if available in the referenced publication.
Units are days, unless otherwise specified.
See Note on n_Per for the meanings of letter codes that follow the values.
