Abstract:
A total of 33 polar ring galaxies and polar ring galaxy candidates
were observed in the 21-cm HI line with the 64-m Parkes radio
telescope. The objects, selected by their optical morphology, are all
south of declination -39° and in only 5 of them had been reported
previously. HI line emission was detected towards 18 objects, though
in 3 cases the detection may be confused by another galaxy in the
telescope beam, and one is a marginal detection. Eight objects were
detected for the first time in HI, of which 5 did not have previously
known redshifts.

Note (1): Type of polar-ring galaxy:
K: Kinematically-determined polar-ring galaxies
G: Good candidates for polar-ring galaxies
P: Possible candidates for polar-ring galaxies
Note (2): Note on PRC designation:
A-NN: kinematically-determined Polar-Ring Galaxies
B-NN: good candidates for Polar-Ring Galaxies
C-NN: possible candidates for Polar-Ring Galaxies
D-NN: systems possibly related to Polar-Ring Galaxies
Note (3): Most optical data are mean, corrected values from the LEDA database
Note (4): Notes:
: denotes an uncertain value.
) denotes that data are literature values, from NED
Note (5): The line detected towards PRC C-14 seems due to nearby ESO 246-G22;
(VHI, W50, IHI and rms)
Note (6): When two values of the rms noise level of the spectrum, the first
refers to the ~-1000 to 12000km/s velocity range and the second to
the ∼8500 to 21500km/s range
Note (7): Notes on logMHI:
c: confused
m: marginal
