These variations occur on a time scale of hours, and are only seen in V. We argue that they are not caused by dust extinction, but either by a dramatic change in the strength of the C IV 5801-12Å emission line doublet due to a de-excitation process, or by some unknown continuum effect. Description: The tables present photometric monitoring of WR 30a in the UBV system, as described in the paper. There are three data sets. All observations were done using the Dutch 90cm telescope at ESO, La Silla, Chile, through Johnson V and B filters.
