Abstract:
We study the presence of low intensity high velocity components, which
we have termed wing features in the integrated Halpha emission line
profiles of the HII region populations of the spiral barred galaxies
NGC 1530, NGC 3359 and NGC 6951. We find that more than a third of the
HII region line profiles in each galaxy show these components.
Description:
The galaxies NGC 3359, NGC 6951 and NGC 1530 were observed with the
TAURUS-II Fabry-Perot interferometer at the 4.2m William Herschel
Telescope (WHT) on La Palma. The data reduction for each galaxy is
described respectively in Rozas et al. (2000A&A...354..823R 2000A&A...354..823R, Cat.
J/A+A/354/823>) for NGC 3359, in Rozas et al. (2002A&A...386...42R 2002A&A...386...42R)
for NGC 6951 and in Zurita et al. (2004A&A...413...73Z 2004A&A...413...73Z) for NGC 1530.

Note (2): For NGC 1530, the pixel size is 0.29", which gives a pixel scale of
51.4 pc/pix at a galaxy distance of 36.6Mpc (NGC, VII/118).
For NGC 6951, for a pixel size of 0.58" the pixel scale is
67.8pc/pix at a distance galaxy of 24.1 Mpc (NGC, VII/118)
For NGC 3359, for a pixel size of 0.56" the pixel scale is
36.4pc/pix at a galaxy distance of 13.4 Mpc (RC3, VII/155).
Note (3): Standard deviation of the fractional emission measures of the
Gaussian components fitted to the set of line profiles with
different apertures taken for each region.
Note (4): Standard deviation of the velocity separation for the set of line
profiles with different apertures extracted for each region.
