Abstract:
Understanding the origin of the instabilities of LBVs is important for
shedding light on the late evolutionary stages of massive stars and on
the chemical evolution of galaxies.
To investigate the physical nature of variable stars in the upper H-R
diagram, we performed a spectrophotometric study of the Romano's star
GR 290 and the Hubble-Sandage variables A, B, and C in the close
galaxy M 33.
New spectroscopic and photometric data were employed in conjunction
with already published data of these stars in order to derive spectral
types, energy distribution and bolometric luminosities.
Description:
File "table2.dat" contains the name, J2000 coordinates, UBVRI
photometry of stars used as photometric standard stars for the field
around the Romano's star (GR 290) in M 33.
File "GR290_field.JPG" is the identification chart of standard stars
in the field of GR 290. North is up, East to the left. About 8x8arcmin2
field. GR 290 is marked GR. Just to its right there is the association
OB 89 (with the stars 89-6, 2115, 2121, and 2124). Further to the
right there is the association OB 88 (with the stars 88-1. 3, 4, 9,
and 10). Star 2112 is just beyond the lower border of the image. In
the map the stars are marked by the last digit(s) of their names in
Table 2. The magnitudes of stars A, B, p, q, -2, and -3 are not
reported.

Note (1): Star's nomenclature:
* ku-a..h = a..h standard stars from R. Kurtev et al.
(2001RMxAA..37...57K 2001RMxAA..37...57K). Their B-magnitudes have been revised.
* M33a-78, 262 and 314 = stars from P. Massey
(1998, Cat. J/ApJ/501/153, [M98a] M 33a-NNN in Simbad).
* 2115..2126 = IFM-B stars from Table 2 of G.R. Ivanov et al.
(1993,Cat. J/ApJS/89/85), IFM-B NNNN in Simbad.
* 88-n, 89-n = stars in clusters OB88-OB89 (see Table 1
(J/A/110/2715/m33) of P. Massey et al. (1995, Cat. J/AJ/110/2715)
[MAP95] M 33 OB88 NN and [MAP95] M 33 OB89 N in Simbad.
* Cross identification:
IFM-B 2124 is also [MJ98] WR 142.
The stars IFM-B 2115, 2121, and 2124 belong to the association OB89.
Note (2): Sources for the photometry:
* U B V for the stars of clusters OB 88 and OB 89 are from P. Massey
et al. (1995, Cat. J/AJ/110/2715). No errors are reported by
the authors.
* For the other stars B V R I are from Franco Montagni's Greve 30cm
telescope using the standard stars in the fields of the blazars
B0109+224 and B0235+1624. The BVRI data were refined using the
CCD images taken at the Cima Ekar.
Note (3): Notes as follows:
1 = ku-a to ku-h are the standard stars used for the B measurements
by Kurtev et al. (2001RMxAA..37...57K 2001RMxAA..37...57K).
The V R I and the revised B magnitudes have been measured by
Franco Montagni.
2 = M33a-78, M33a-262, and M33a-314 are from P. Massey
(1998ApJ...501..153M 1998ApJ...501..153M).
3 = 89-6 is star no.6 in the association OB89; it is also star 460 in
Table 1 (J/A/110/2715/m33) of P. Massey et al.
(1995, Cat. J/AJ/110/2715).
4 = The OB88 stars 88-1, 2, 3, 4, 9, and 10 are stars 475, 477, 478,
483, and 484, respectively, in Table 1 (J/A/110/2715/m33) of
Massey et al. (1995, Cat. J/AJ/110/2715).
