Abstract:
We present a catalog of Equivalent Width (EW) measurements of spectra
from the spectroscopic follow-up of the WIde-field Nearby
Galaxy-cluster Survey (WINGS).Using the Anglo Australian Telescope
(AAT) and the William Herschel Telescope (WHT), we have obtained
optical spectra for about 6000 galaxies selected in fields centered on
48 local (0.04<z<0.07) X-ray selected. We apply a method we have
developed to automatically measure the EW of spectral lines in a
robust way even in spectra with a non optimal signal to noise. This
way, we derive a spectral classification reflecting the stellar
content, based on the presence and strength of the [OII] (3727) and
Hδ lines.
Description:
Equivalent Widths for up to 14 optical lines, measurement
uncertainties, the D4000 and Dn4000 index, spectral classification,
and magnitude and geometrical completeness are presented for 4861
galaxies in 29 nearby clusters' fields. Galaxies in the following
clusters have been included in the catalog: A1069, A119, A151, A1631a,
A1644, A2382, A2399, A2415, A3128, A3158, A3266, A3376, A3395, A3490,
A3497, A3556, A3560, A3809, A500, A754, A957x, A970, A1795, A1983,
A2457, A2626, A376, Z8338 and Z8852.

Note (1): the spectral classes are presented in section 4.1 of the paper:
1 = e(a): emission-line spectra with strong Hδ in absorption,
signature of the presence of A-type stars, typical of dusty
starburst or abruptly interrupted star formation
2 = e(b): emission-line spectra with very strong emission lines,
typical of starburst with low to moderate dust extinction
3 = e(c): emission-line spectra with moderate to weak emission lines,
typical of starburst systems with low to moderate dust extinction;
4 = k: spectra resembling those of K-type stars, lacking emission lines
and with weak Hδ in absorption, typical of passively
evolving galaxies (ellipticals)
5 = k+a: combination of both K and A stars with strong Hδ in
absorption and no emission line
6 = a+k: combination of A and K stars
