ADC_Keywords: Binaries, eclipsing Keywords: binaries: eclipsing - methods: data analysis - methods: numerical Abstract: ellc is a fast, flexible light curve model for detached eclipsing binary stars and transiting exoplanets. The model includes the effects of star spots, Doppler boosting and light-travel time within binaries with eccentric orbits. The model represents the stars as triaxial ellipsoids. The apparent flux from the binary is calculated using Gauss-Legendre integration over the ellipses that are the projection of these ellipsoids on the sky. The model can also be used to calculate the flux weighted radial velocity of the stars during an eclipse (Rossiter-McLaghlin effect). The main features of the model have been tested by comparison to observed data and other light curve models. The light curve model is implemented as fortran subroutines called directly from a user interface written in python. Several examples and of its use are included in the distribution. Updates to the code can be found at https://pypi.python.org/pypi/ellc/. Description: INSTALLATION ------------ The instructions below assume that you are installing the software on a linux system as root user. See https://pypi.python.org/ for help for installation on other systems or as a non-root user. Commands entered on the command line are preceeded by "$". 1. Download the compressed tar file ellc-1.1.0.tar.gz. 2. Unpack the archive $ tar xzvf ellc-1.1.0.tar.gz This will create a directory ellc-1.1.0 3. Move to the directory created in the previous step. $ cd ellc-1.1.0 4. Execute the following command to buid and install the software $ sudo python setup.py install EXAMPLES -------- The distribution includes a directory "examples/" that can be used to reproduce the figures in the paper. See the file "ReadMe.txt" in this directory for further details.
