Abstract:
We present the newest version of the Automated Mining of the ALMA
Archive in the COSMOS Field project (A3COSMOS) and extended it with
observations from the GOODS-South field (A3GOODSS). The database
consists of ∼4000 pipeline processed continuum images from the
public ALMA archive, yielding ∼2000 unique robustly detected sources,
including sources both with and without a known optical counterpart.
We constructed a method to infer galaxy number counts using our
blindly detected sources, reducing observational bias inherent to
targeted pointings and taking into account inhomogeneous wavelengths,
sensitivities, and resolutions as well as the spatial overlap between
images. We tested and calibrated our method with simulations. We
obtain the first number counts derived in a consistent and homogeneous
way in four different ALMA bands covering a relatively large area. The
results are consistent with number counts retrieved from the
literature within the uncertainties. We use the number counts to test
models of dusty galaxy evolution and find a good agreement within the
uncertainties.
Description:
ALMA (sub-)millimeter continuum photometry for galaxies extracted from
ALMA archival data in the COSMOS and GOODS-South fields publicly
available as of 2022/06/06. Source were extracted both blindly and
using positional priors. For both methods separately, we give source
positions and flux densities from Gaussian source fitting,
observational properties of the respective ALMA pointing/image, and
source fitting information. For robustly detected galaxies with
optical/near-infrared detections and prior redshifts, we provide
stellar masses, infrared luminosities, and star formation rates
inferred from multi-wavelength SED fitting.
