ADC_Keywords: X-ray sources ; Radio sources Keywords: active - galaxies: starburst - radio continuum - X-rays Abstract: We investigate the relationship between faint X-ray and 1.4GHz radio source populations detected within 3' of the Hubble Deep Field (North) using the 1Ms Chandra (Cat. J/AJ/122/2810) and 40µJy VLA (Cat. J/ApJ/533/611) surveys. Within this region, we find that ∼42% of the 62 X-ray sources have radio counterparts and ∼71% of the 28 radio sources have X-ray counterparts; thus, a 40µJy VLA survey at 1.4GHz appears to be well matched to a 1Ms Chandra observation. J/ApJ/533/611) Note (2): Observed flux at 0.5-8.0keV assuming the value of Gamma indicated in the nest column, or Gamma=1.4 if not listed (See paper V, Brandt et al., 2001, Cat. J/AJ/122/2810) for details) Note (3): X-ray power-law photon index computed from the band ratio (i.e., the ratio of 2.0-8.0keV count rate, or 3σ upper limit, to 0.5-2.0keV count rate; see Paper V, Brandt et al., 2001, Cat. J/AJ/122/2810 for details). Note that many sources lack Gamma-values because of their low number of counts. Note (4): ISOCAM flux density at 15µm as reported in Aussel et al. (1999, Cat. J/A+A/342/313, 2002, in prep.). Three-sigma 15µm upper limits were computed for all X-ray sources within the complete ISOCAM area following Aussel et al. (2002, in prep.). Note (5): Spectroscopic redshift from the catalog of Cohen et al. (2000, Cat. J/ApJ/538/29) or Dawson et al. (2001, Cat. J/AJ/122/598). Note (6): Absorption-corrected rest-frame 0.5-8.0keV luminosity, calculated assuming the unabsorbed spectrum is a Gamma=2.0 power law. Note (7): Spectral classification from the catalog of Cohen et al. (2000, Cat. J/ApJ/538/29) or if from Dawson et al. (2001, Cat. J/AJ/122/598) or Barger et al. (2002AJ....124.1839B 2002AJ....124.1839B), converted to the Cohen et al. (2000, Cat. J/ApJ/538/29) classification scheme as follows: A = absorption-line galaxies E = emission-line galaxies I = intermediate type galaxies Q = broad-emission line galaxies EA = Galaxy showing A and E characteristics EI = Galaxy showing E and I characteristics EQ = Galaxy showing E and Q characteristics Note (8): Classes defined as follows (question mark indicate tentative) AGN = AGN-dominated sources ALG = absorption-line galaxies ELG = emission-line galaxies OF = optically faint Note (9): Notes as follows: a = Source lies outside of the publicly available VLA 1.4GHz image and thus has no detection down to a 5σ flux density limit of ∼40Jy at 1.4GHz. b = Measured using the publicly available images down to a 3σ limit c = Detected only in the 0.5-2.0keV band. We calculated X-ray upper limits following Chap. 3.2.1 of Paper V (Brandt et al., 2001, Cat. J/AJ/122/2810) d = Source lies outside the ISOCAM field of view. e = Source lies in the AGN region of Fig. 3 but is considered to be part of the galaxy sample. f = Calculated using lower significance 1.4GHz and/or 8.5GHz flux densities measured from the publicly available 1.9" and 3.5" convolved images, respectively. As such, these spectral slopes should be considered only approximate, since the beam sizes of the 1.4GHz and 8.5GHz images have not been properly matched. g = Flux density taken from the WSRT 1.4GHz catalog of Garrett et al., 2000A&A...361L..41G 2000A&A...361L..41G. h = Photometric redshift, obtained from the catalog presented in Paper IX (Bauer et al., 2002AJ....123.1163B 2002AJ....123.1163B). -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: From electronic version of the journal References: Hornschemeier et al., Paper I 2000ApJ...541...49H 2000ApJ...541...49H Hornschemeier et al., Paper II 2001ApJ...554..742H 2001ApJ...554..742H, Cat.
