Abstract:
We measure the luminosity function of morphologically selected E/S0
galaxies from z=0.5 to 1.0 using deep high-resolution Advanced
Camera for Surveys (ACS) imaging data. Our analysis covers an area of
48arcmin2 (8 times the area of the Hubble Deep Field North) and
extends 2mag deeper (I∼24 mag) than was possible in the Deep Groth
Strip Survey (DGSS). Our fields were observed as part of the ACS
Guaranteed Time Observations.
Description:
The data were extracted from five fields observed by the ACS Wide
Field Camera (WFC) between 2002 April and 2003 June.

volume-limited sample MB←20.1, Re>0.8kpc.
Note (2): The redshifts are estimated redshifts (zbest) in all cases
apart from those marked with an asterisk, which are spectroscopic
redshifts in the HDFN (R.A.∼189.2, decl.∼62.2).
