Abstract:
We present our first results of multiband Speckle Holography of
components of visual double stars. The observations were performed
during 2019-April at the 2.1m telescope at the Observatorio
Astronomico Nacional at Sierra de San Pedro Martir (Mexico). We have
observed 190 double stars with separation between 3" and 5". The
position angle, separation and magnitude difference in three broadband
optical filters (VRI) for these systems are provided. For 15 systems
we found different interesting features, we have identified a close
component for 9 of those systems; 5 of them are newly discovered. In
the remaining 6 systems, although unresolved, we found elongations
that we have been able to derive astrometric parameters if proven to
be a (newly discovered) close component. This corresponds to about 8%
of the sample presenting a certain feature in one of the components
and about 5% of the sample having a confirmed close component.
Description:
Speckle interferograms were taken during six nights in the spring of
2019, from April-22 to April-26 at the 2.1m telescope of the
Observatorio Astronomico Nacional (OAN), which is located at the
astronomical site Sierra San Pedro Martir (SPM), Mexico. For each
system, we take the speckle interferograms in three broadband filters:
VRI.

Note (1): The values with an * (2 occurrences for VPA and VSep, 1
occurrence for IPA ans ISep) are unreliable due to the image not
being well resolved in that particular band, and a resulting
innacuracy in selecting the centroid of the source by our data
processing.
Note (2): Companion subset as follows:
1 = sources with a clear close companion visible (9 occurrences)
2 = sources that exhibits an elongation, but we have been able to derive
ρ and θ from their Plasma Wave Subsystem (PWS) and
Auto-Correlation Fonction (ACF) (2 occurrences)
