Abstract:
Cross sections for the excitation of transitions in the tantalum atom
(Z=73) not related to the ground state have been measured using
extended crossed beams and optical spectroscopy. The total excitation
cross sections for 23 energy levels of TaI have been determined.

Note (1): There are four optical excitation functions, the curve number
corresponds to the position of the maximum EQmax.
See Fig. 1 of the paper.
Note (2): Ratio of I*lam to g*A, where
I is the line intensity, lam is the line wavelength,
g is the statistical weight of upper level and
A is the transition probability
Ilam/gA should be the same for each set of lines with a common upper level.
