ADC_Keywords: Galaxies, photometry ; H I data ; Morphology Keywords: galaxies: dwarf - galaxies: kinematics and dynamics Abstract: We investigate the gas content and baryonic Tully-Fisher relationship for extremely low luminosity dwarf galaxies in the absolute magnitude range -13.5>Mr-5logh70>-16. The sample is selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and consists of 101 galaxies for which we have obtained follow-up HI observations using the Arecibo Observatory and Green Bank Telescope. This represents the largest homogeneous sample of dwarf galaxies at low luminosities with well-measured HI and optical properties. The sample spans a range of environments, from dense groups to truly isolated galaxies. (2005AJ....129.2562B 2005AJ....129.2562B) low-luminosity SDSS catalog. In Simbad, galaxies identified as SDSS JHHMMSS.ss+DDMMSS.s Note (2): Absolute magnitudes and colors have been corrected for Galactic extinction based on Schlegel et al. (1998ApJ...500..525S 1998ApJ...500..525S). Note (3): Distances are estimated based on a model of the local velocity field (Willick et al., 1997ApJ...486..629W 1997ApJ...486..629W) and assume H0=70h70Mpc.km/s. Note (4): The effective surface brightness (mueff,r), effective half-light radius (reff,r), and axis ratio (b/a) are measured from the SDSS r-band images. Note (5): Stellar masses are calculated based on Bell et al. (2003ApJS..149..289B 2003ApJS..149..289B) and a Kroupa et al. (1993MNRAS.262..545K 1993MNRAS.262..545K) initial mass function. Note (6): HI masses are based on our Arecibo and GBT observations. Note (7): The HI velocity half-width, Wh (W20/2), is the observed uncorrected 20% peak HI half-width. Note (8): The quantity Wh(i,t) (W20i,t/2) is the HI half-width corrected for inclination and turbulence as described in Sect. 3.2. Note (9): Errors on the HI mass and HI line width were calculated from the scatter in the mean quantities recovered from Monte Carlo simulations.
