Abstract:
We present the iron abundance of 24 asymptotic giant branch (AGB)
stars, members of the globular cluster 47 Tucanae, obtained with
high-resolution spectra collected with the FEROS spectrograph at the
MPG/ESO 2.2m Telescope. To test the reliability of the chemical
analysis, 11 red giant branch (RGB) stars were also studied.
Description:
We acquired high-resolution spectra of 24 AGB stars in 47 Tuc by using
the Fibre-fed Extended Range Optical Spectrograph (FEROS) mounted at
the MPG/ESO 2.2m telescope. The spectra cover a wavelength range
between λ∼3500Å and λ∼9200Å, with a spectral
resolution of ∼48000. The targets have been selected from the
photometric catalog of Beccari et al. (2006ApJ...652L.121B 2006ApJ...652L.121B), within
∼100" from the cluster center. For the sample of 11 RGB stars, the
high-resolution (R∼45000) FLAMES-UVES spectra are from the ESO
Archive.
