The survey covers a ∼0.6deg2 area of the field for a total observing time of ∼1.75Ms, to a half-area depth of ∼155ks corrected for vignetting at 3-24keV, and reaching sensitivity limits at half-area in the full (3-24keV), soft (3-8keV), and hard (8-24keV) bands of 2.2x10-14erg/cm2/s, 1.0x10-14erg/cm2/s, and 2.7x10-14erg/cm2/s, respectively. A total of 67 sources are detected in at least one of the three bands, 56 of which have a robust optical redshift with a median of ∼1.1. Through a broadband (0.5-24keV) spectral analysis of the whole sample combined with the NuSTAR hardness ratios, we compute the observed Compton-thick (CT; NH>1024cm-2) fraction. Taking into account the uncertainties on each NH measurement, the final number of CT sources is 6.8±1.2. This corresponds to an observed CT fraction of 11.5%±2.0%, providing a robust lower limit to the intrinsic fraction of CT active galactic nuclei and placing constraints on cosmic X-ray background synthesis models. Description: In this paper, we report on the NuSTAR survey (35 observations spanning 2016-02-06 to 2016-11-18) of the UDS field. This field is the deepest component of the UKIRT Infrared Deep Sky Survey (UKIDSS; Almaini+ 2007ASPC..379..163A 2007ASPC..379..163A ; Lawrence+ 2012, II/319) and has an extensive multiwavelength coverage (see section 1). In the X-ray band, the NuSTAR coverage is centered on the coordinates RAJ2000=34.4deg;DEJ2000=-5.1deg, and it overlaps with the Subaru XMM-Newton Deep Survey (SXDS; Ueda+ 2008, J/ApJS/179/124) and Chandra UDS survey (Kocevski+ 2018, J/ApJS/236/48) fields. We assume a flat λCDM cosmology (H0=70km/s/Mpc, ΩM=0.3, ΩΛ=0.7) throughout the paper.
