In this paper we carry out an analysis of their morphology, (B-I) colours and atomic hydrogen content. Description: The optical data that we use in this paper are part of the 2.5-m Isaac Newton Telescope Wide Field Camera (INT WFC) survey of the Virgo Cluster (see paper I, Sabatini et al., 2003MNRAS.341..981S 2003MNRAS.341..981S, for further details). Here we present results from the west-east B- and i-band strip in the cluster, extending from the centre of the cluster (identified as M87) eastwards for 7°, with a total area of 14deg2. This region of the cluster is part of the dynamical unit named cluster A (M87), excluding members of other units like cluster B, clouds M and W.
