Abstract:
We present the result of a deep near-infrared survey of the newly
identified X-ray luminous cluster of galaxies CIZA J1324.7-5736 in the
Great Attractor (GA) region. In a 35x35arcmin2 region, 111 galaxy
candidates with r(Ks20)>3arcsec are identified.
Description:
Our near-infrared survey of an extended region around CIZA1324 was
carried out in 2003 April and May, during a total of six nights. The
observation was made with the Simultaneous Three-Color Infrared Imager
for Unbiased Survey (SIRIUS), a simultaneous imager in the J (1.26um),
H (1.63um) and Ks (2.14um) bands, covering an area of 7.7x7.7arcmin2
with a pixel scale of 0.45arcsec on the InfraRed Survey Facility
(IRSF) 1.4-m telescope at the Sutherland site of the South African
Astronomical Observatory.
