Description: The echelle spectra of beta Ret and nu Oct that formed the basis of this work were obtained at Mt John University Observatory (MJUO), Lake Tekapo, New Zealand, between 2001 July and 2007 February. The observations used the 1-m McLellan telescope and the fibre-fed High Efficiency and Resolution Canterbury University Large Echelle Spectrograph (HERCULES).
